מילות השיר:
A young precious little boy, no father of his own –
Together with his mother, just the two of them alone.
For her, just one thing matters; she toils to no end –
Only to the best melamed, her dearest son she’d send.

He learns with much excitement, the Torah he devours –
Shteiging every moment for hours upon hours.
But one thing makes him worry, brings sadness to his heart –
He wants to help his mother, but he knows not where to start.

“I know how hard you work for me. I promise you,” he vowed.
“How difficult your life must be; one day I’ll make you proud!
Father may not be here, our future is unknown –
But we have One up in heaven; we’ll never be alone.”

Facing daunting challenges, a mother and her son –
Confronting each one bravely, overcoming one by one.
And though at times it’s difficult, she finds the strength to say
With reassurance in her voice, “It will be okay.”

But one day, there’s a fire; their house engulfed in flames –
Reduced to ash and rubble, not a single thing remains.
No longer can she be so strong, her cries – they pierce the night!
The young boy whispers to himself, “Everything will be alright.”

“I know how hard you work for me. I promise you,” he vowed.
“How difficult your life must be; one day I’ll make you proud!
Father may not be here, our future is unknown –
But we have One up in heaven; we’ll never be alone.”

Looking down at his pure face, she wipes away a tear –
“It’s not that we won’t have a house, that’s not most what I fear –
Inside our home we had a little book – told your yichus, my dear son
So you could dream to be like the Gedolim you come from.

The flames crackle in the sky, the house ablaze with fire.
But inside the young boy’s heart, there burns a strong desire.
“You need not worry, Mother, one thing I’ll guarantee –
I’ll write you a new book; the first Gadol will be me.
